According to Hootsuite's Social Trends 2022, the top social media goals for small businesses (1-99 employees) in 2022 are:
Increase acquisition of new customers.
Increase brand awareness.
When I see these objectives, I see the early stages of the customer journey. Increasing brand awareness may be second in the survey results, but it is smack dab in the middle of the awareness stage. Increasing acquisition of new customers seems like the step after awareness by before they decide to buy - otherwise known as the consideration stage.
Creating a social media plan
Let's use these objectives to work through how to create an engaging social media plan for your business in 2022.
Identify your objectives - increase acquisition of new customers and brand awareness.
Segment your target market into more manageable groups.
Organize your existing inventory of content, so you know what you need to create yourself or curate from 3rd party resources.
Categorize your inventory of content and then map out your ads and organic posts each month. Be mindful of employee recognition opportunities, holidays, and industry/seasonal trends.
Get creative and start creating the individual posts to fill your monthly plan and achieve your goals. Keep your market segments in mind - what will capture their attention and what will they find valuable.
Schedule your posts and ads ahead of time to save you time. Each social media platform offers this feature on their admin pages, or you can use a service like Hootsuite to schedule to each of your platforms from one spot.
Track and analyze the results. Boost organic posts that are outperforming the rest to help with brand awareness. Learn more about measuring ROI from social media.
